Ryokami Dahlia Garden
A drive to the foot of Mt. Ryokami, one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains, to find a flower field that has no address.
This dahlia garden has no official street address. Following the garden's directions, you set your navigation to 8160-1 Ryokami-Susuki in Ogano and then drive about 500 m beyond it to reach the entrance. The garden covers roughly 10,000 m² at the foot of Mt. Ryokami, one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains, and Saitama Prefecture describes it as one of the largest dahlia gardens in the Kanto region.
About 5,000 plants of some 350 varieties grow here. In its October 17 update, the garden said the autumn dahlias were still worth seeing, in shades from pink and purple to red and orange. It is open 9:00–16:30, the 50-car lot is free, and visitors pay a ¥500 maintenance donation at the gate.
On the way back, head down into central Ogano. The prefecture's rental-car model course pairs the garden with a stop about 20 minutes away in town for the local specialty, waraji katsu-don.
