Climb from the shore and see the lake you just drove beside from high above.

From the lookout, Mt. Nantai rises beyond the Hatchodeshima peninsula jutting into Lake Chuzenji, with Senjogahara and Mt. Shirane farther off. The road that takes you there is the Lake Chuzenji Skyline, officially Prefectural Road Chugushi–Ashio.

Follow the lake's south shore past the entrance to the British and Italian Embassy Villa memorial parks; 350 m beyond the Asegata junction, the road begins its 7.0 km climb, ending at the Mt. Hangetsu lot in Ashio, Nikko City. Parking is free, and the lookout is about a 30-minute hike up a mountain trail with no restrooms along the way.

As of Oct 17, the tourism association reported the trees around the lake and falls, along with Hatchodeshima, starting to turn. The road is fully closed from 17:00 to 7:00, pedestrians and cyclists included, and the association says it is also closed in winter, from late November to mid-April.
