Tokinosumika Illumination 2026-2027
The grounds of a highland resort you can stay at turn into a forest of light after dark.
The organizers call it Japan's large-scale illumination closest to Mt. Fuji, and it sits inside a highland resort with hotels and a hot spring. Tokinosumika in Gotemba has Hotel Tokinosumika, Gotemba Kogen Hotel and other lodgings, the Kirakubo natural hot spring, and free parking (about 2,000 spaces on site, per the event page).
In October the lights run 17:00 to 22:00. The 20-meter entrance tree is modeled on Mt. Fuji. The original Tunnel of Light runs about 300 meters through five spaces of sound and light. Mori-no-Sumika, rebuilt this season, leads through a cave to a glowing chapel. The Royal Hill fountain laser show began as a recreation of Versailles' fountain shows, with jets up to 150 meters; hours follow the official calendar.
Some areas are free; Royal Hill is ¥1,300 for adults, Mori-no-Sumika ¥700, both ¥1,800, no re-entry. Drive around Fuji by day and stay here at night, and no mountain road waits after the lights.
